a roller coaster ride to a new life

My health and fitness journey began in 2009 as a freshman in college. My self esteem was low and the number on the scale was high. So I began the Insanity program and started to see an in-home personal trainer who changed my mindset completely! She was a great role-model and mentor during the early years of my fitness journey. I lost a total of 15 pounds during this period, and quickly realized that my new found fitness habits were bettering my life overall. It made me feel productive, healthy, and happy.

Although that success was visible, it was not enough. At this point I relied on what many do to lose weight, unhealthy habits and fab diets. I was eating sparsely, or not at all, and was unable to exercise. Constantly fatigued due to self-inflicted malnutrition, my life turned into a poisonous cocktail of depression, anxiety, and self-victimization. I was in a dark place in my life and didn't know where to turn or how to get out of it. Then a light shone when my family took a vacation to Cancun for my older sister's wedding! My family was unaware of the struggles I was going through, and I believed I was doing a good job of hiding them. Fortunately, I wasn't. My youngest sibling saw through the facade. They expressed their feelings of concern for my health and my life, and assured me of their support, should I ever be in need. This conversation opened my eyes to the harm I was inflicting on myself through the lifestyle I was living. If my own baby sibling could not look up to me as a person to be proud of, I was doing something wrong. 

SO I CHANGED...

I started going to therapy and shaping my life for the better- eating healthier, little by little. Then, I started the P90X program. Quickly after graduating with a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, I moved with my now husband to Colorado, ready for a mental, emotional, and physical change. With this change came the realization that a career in Criminal Justice was not for me. The seed of owning my own fitness business was planted.

Since becoming a personal trainer and health coach, my life has changed in so many aspects. Working out and staying active has become a welcome stress relief. My knowledge of how to take care of my body in a healthy way, and maintain an active lifestyle has allowed me to embrace nature. One of the best parts of my day is the time I allot for personal development. I am constantly growing; mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Fast forward to today, I am a wife and mother of two boys. I am faced with juggling more responsibilities and obligations every day. It is easy to let your cup dry up with our demanding schedules! Because of this, I understand and value the importance of balancing a healthy lifestyle now more then ever. I have learned, when mama takes the time to nourish her mind and body, she can be the BEST VERSION of who she is to the world around her ... EVERYBODY WINS that way!

The changes I made in 2013 created a ripple in my life. To any of you who are currently going through struggles in life, I can honestly and confidently say, it gets better. I have learned that to create a better life you must challenge yourself and believe in yourself. My goal is to help YOU do that.

THE HALLMARK OF MY WORK IS PASSION

My work is my life, it is not a business or a 9-5 that must be endured. It is what makes me happy and inspires me to continue helping others create a healthy, happy lifestyle. Each and every one of you has the power to do this for yourself, but we all need a little push once in a while! Thank you for joining me on this wonderful journey I am lucky to be on.

PERSONAL TRAINING

I discovered my real passion in life after I lost 35 lbs in my own health journey.  Not only did I lose weight, but more importantly, I beat my own body image issues and insecurities FOR GOOD.

 

I am now a certified Personal Trainer, Health Coach, Prenatal and Postnatal Specialist, Group Insanity Instructor, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and Weight Management Specialist. I use these tools to help YOU step into the person you have always wanted to be.

HEALTH COACHING

Simply put, WHAT we eat is only half of our story of good nutrition. The other half is WHO we are as eaters.

As a Health Coach certified with the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, I will help you explore this concept and how it influences your own life. 

​

I will challenge you to dig deep and not just uncover what has been holding you back, but to truly FACE IT and find a way to OVERCOME it.
